We Perform Cable Pulling Calculations

PowerStudies.com, P.S. is pleased to announce that we are now able to perform Cable Pulling Calculations.  We use ETAP’s Cable Pulling Software Module to determine the cable pulling tension.  This is essential for proper design of cable systems.   This enables the design engineer to determine the maximum length of conductors between vaults or pull boxes.  This reduces the equipment and construction costs.

The ETAP program performs a point-by-point calculation method at every conduit bend and pull point.  Both forward and reverse pulling tensions are calculated for determining the preferred pulling direction.

More information about the ETAP program can be found at

http://etap.com/cable-systems/cable-pulling.htm

Our report will include the following:

  • Introduction
  • Executive Summary
  • Data Input of physical characteristics of the cables, vaults, and pull boxes.
  • Forward & reverse pulling tensions
  • Tensions at all bend points
  • Maximum tension limited by sidewall pressures
  • Maximum allowable pulling tension
  • Conduit percent fill
  • Total length of run (pull)
  • Evaluation of possible conduit jamming
  • Summary and alert tables
